MORAY HUGHESMoray Hughes was a teacher and performer in the Yorkshire and Humberside area. He was principal clarinetist in the South Bank Sinfonietta, in performances of such works as Stravinsky's "The Rite Of Spring", Richard Strauss' "Ein Heldenlaben" and Mahler's Fifth Symphony. In Doncaster he was principal clarinetist in the Boyce Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist he performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with both the Rossini Chamber Orchestra and the Ryton Symphonia. He gave many performances of the great Mozart chamber music works for clarinet and also formed the Boreas Wind Quintet, which was on the Yorkshire Arts recommended artists list. Moray worked as a peripatetic teacher for Doncaster Music Service from 1978. He started hundreds of children on successful musical careers before his untimely death in 1997.
