DIRECTOR OF MUSIC SERVICE

Geoffrey Thomas, currently School Development Adviser for Dudley MBC, has been appointed as Director of the Music Service and he will take up the post on the 1 January 2002. Mr Thomas is an extremely experienced musician, teacher, adviser and inspector. We look forward to welcoming him to the William Appleby Music Centre and working with him in the future.

Beechfield Youth Orchestra at 3pm
(The Wind Quintet will play in the foyer
prior to the concert)

There will be no rehearsals for Saturday
Orchestras and no theory classes on this day.
Instrumental lessons will be as normal.

Recorder Groups and the Appleby Training Choir
at 5.45pm in the Hall


Concert clothes: dark trousers/skirts, white shirts/blouses. Please would band and orchestra players be there 15 minutes before their concert.

There will be no tickets for the concerts, but a collection will be taken at the end of each concert. As usual with our Christmas concerts, the proceeds will be equally divided between a charity and the Music Service. This Christmas we have chosen the Starlight Foundation, an organisation which grants final wishes to children with terminal illnesses.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY
The Music Centre will close on Friday 21 December. Classes will start again on Monday 7 January.

CAR PARKING
In the interests of safety of Music Centre children, please would parents park their cars in the designated spaces when dropping pupils off or picking them up, please do not park in an ad hoc way in the area in front of the Music Centre entrance. Thank you for your help.

LOST PROPERTY
There is a significant amount of unclaimed property. If your child has lost anything, please call at the WAMC office. We shall dispose of clothing and other lost property to charity shops during the week before the Christmas holiday.

WORKSHOPS
String Orchestra Workshop 26/27 January 2002
We are pleased to invite advanced players, both adults and students, to take part in a workshop conducted by John Pearson. The programme will include a selection of well known popular string music. There will be an informal concert at 3.30pm on 27 January in the WAMC Hall. Full details may be obtained from the WAMC office (01302 734810)
